Dear ESFP,
Tap into your Ni for peace
Tap into your Ni for peace
Anxiety is something that can take us over. Needing to understand a situation, needing more information, wanting to gather facts before making a decision. It can be debilitating. Anxiety comes, and we are then stuck in a spiral of our own creation that we struggle to get out of.
It feels awful. I know it does. It can sometimes feel like hell on earth. Like we are stuck in our own personal torture chamber. Fortunately the cure is already within it. We just suck at accessing it.
On the direct axis of Se, lays Ni. Our demon function. It is the thing that is capable of laying all that anxiety to rest. When you engage Ni, it can shut off anxiety in a second, relax all your muscles and bring deep peace. Then over time, as you access this more, your confidence can grow that everything will be alright. So how do we switch over?
We need to shush the Se. No Googling, no gathering of info, no gathering of opinions, no facts, nothing. Put away the phone and laptop. Breathe deep.
Imagine yourself zooming out from the situation. Like a camera lens zooming out. You’re looking at the overall situation and other situations like this. Watch yourself in the situation. Allow your mind to come up with images and concepts to show what’s going on in symbols. What is the overall theme here?
Ask yourself, what vision will bring me empowerment, freedom and release me from my feeling like a victim? Allow the situation in your mind to evolve to follow the answer to this question. Take your time. It’s equally fine if this takes barely 5 minutes of your time. The goal is to zoom out, identify less personally with the situation and allow your inner self to show you a vision of what it sees. We’re going to pop back into Ni land shortly.
We don’t like to have our freedoms taken away from us. We want situations to resolve so we can move on and be free. Every moment that it doesn’t is painful. I get it. We also aren’t good at playing the long game. Narrow down what I want to do in the next 5 years and follow that path alone? Are you crazy? I’m with you my friend.
These are the things that have caused me to make some royally bad decisions, caused suffering to be around for much longer, and why I’m now in my 40’s having still not quite gotten my life together. Recently I found myself in a new country, surrounded by my stuff that has been in boxes for the last 2 years, in a sense “starting over”. I hadn’t planned well and was waiting to move to a more appropriate home space. Every day I sat with boxes looming over me, it was painful.
I want you to realise that regardless of why you are anxious, you are already free. Your prison is a self-made creation based on how you feel about the situation. You may not be free enough to make decisions you would like to, but I would like you to tap into your mind and see that even knowing which decisions you can or cannot make, is a freedom.
Also because you are already free, you can look at playing the long game, even just a little. The situation that is giving you anxiety maybe needs more time, more slow action to unfold in order to resolve to your best outcome. Entertain the idea, that surrendering to the process being resolved over a longer time, being a better outcome to your future self so much more than if it resolved right this second.
Tap back into your vision. Combine this thought that you are already free and that the long game is perhaps what needs to be occurring, but is neither here nor there when looking at the longer scope of your whole life. Remember, empowered, free, not a victim.
Sit with that as long as you need. Open to the Ni.
You will know it’s Ni when a peace washes over you and all the anxiety melts away. You’ll feel a quiet confidence that the situation is resolving for your best outcome. You’ll be at peace with the long game. You’ll know that you’re truly free, regardless of the illusion you are under that you are not.
So long as you’re honouring your values and keeping things good on your side, all is well.
This is not an easy task. You might need to find other things to trigger that zen moment. The main thing is that you keep trying, keep building that muscle, keep allowing your Ni a voice that calms you.
Be open to whatever the outcome is and wherever it leads you. Not forgetting who you are too. We’re capable of making a crappy situation into something that works for us. We can make a fort out of all those cardboard boxes and live like a mini pirate for a week in a bid for feeling free and joyous.
